CONGRATULATIONS TO STEPHEN DINGLEY
2004 RECIPIENT OF THE BILL BRAXTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Stephen Dingley is a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania and a graduate of Father Judge High School.
At Father Judge, Mr. Dingley was an excellent student, maintaining first honors every semester. He was a member of the National Spanish Honor Society and the National Honor Society, serving a term as its president. He has done community service with the elderly and the handicapped. Stephen intends to continue rowing in college and beyond.
To sum up Stephen's attitude toward life, he writes:
"A winning boat must be aggressive; it cannot simply wait for the other team to lose, but must take the initiative and go for the lead. You cannot have self-doubt; you must have a positive winning attitude. These same rules apply in life."
He is focused on his studies and aspires to be an orthopedic surgeon.
Stephen Dingley's record for commitment and service to his school, his community, his family and to the sport of rowing embody the values of the Bill Braxton Memorial Scholarship.
CONGRATULATIONS TO MICHELLE SANCHIRICO
2004 RECIPIENT OF THE THERESA BRAXTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Michelle Sanchirico is a graduate of Bishop Eustace Prep School and a freshman at Rutgers University.
Michelle is a member of both the National Honor Society and the National Spanish Honor Society. She has served as a volunteer on a Student Advisory Board of the Mount Laurel Library and among other pursuits, is active in party politics. Michelle was one of the founding members of her school's women's crew team. Sitting in the coxswain seat has helped her develop her leadership skills and enhanced her ability to work with individuals and as a group member. On being a competitor, Michelle writes:
"The experience of victory can only be cherished until the next practice, and the agony of underachieving has to be felt until the next race. Improvement demands this attitude."
Michelle Sanchirico's dedication and motivation to hard work and success make her an ideal recipient of this award honoring the memory of Theresa Braxton.
