Be careful with the directions. They are slightly different depending on whether you are going to Bartram's Garden or Botanic Avenue, which adjoins Bartram's Garden. ALL trailers should go to Botanic Avenue. The two sites meet at the water's edge near the launch dock, but the driving routes are slightly different. There is plenty of room on Botanic Avenue for all parking and it is easier to get to from downtown Philadelphia.
The Bartram's Garden web site offers these directions: http://www.bartramsgarden.org/information/directions.html.
It's even simpler to get to the Botanic Avenue regatta trailer parking area from Philadelphia (in other words, everywhere but from the south):
Here's a map on Google.
- From the Gray's Ferry Avenue bridge, take a left at the far end of the bridge onto Paschall Avenue.
- Go 2 blocks and turn left onto 49th St.
- Follow 49th St. as it turns right and becomes Gray's Avenue.
- Go 2 blocks and turn right onto 51st St.
- Go to the end of 51st St. to picturesque Botanic Avenue.
- Trailer parking is on Botanic Avenue and on 51st St.
- You're about 100 feet away from Bartram's Garden.
To get to the Botanic Avenue regatta trailer parking area from the south:
- Follow I-95 North past Philadelphia International Airport. Take Exit 13, Central Philadelphia, 76/291 West, and continually keep to the right.
- Take exit for 291 West. Turn right onto Island Avenue and stay right. Follow Island Avenue over bridge and cross onto service road on the right. Make sweeping right turn at next light onto Lindbergh Blvd.
- Follow Lindbergh Blvd. approx. 3 miles, go past Bartram's Garden. Lindbergh Blvd. merges into or becomes Gray's Avenue.
- Turn right onto 51st St.
- Go to the end of 51st St. to picturesque Botanic Avenue.
- Trailer parking is on Botanic Avenue and on 51st St.
- You're about 100 feet away from Bartram's Garden.
It's even easier to get to the finish line. From Boathouse Row, walk past the Waterworks and follow the Schuylkill River Park trail. It's about a 10 minute walk. This will be the best place to watch races. And from here you can catch a free shuttle bus to Bartram's Garden.
Live near the finish line? Take Arch St. or Cherry St. to 23rd St., or go to 25th and Locust, walk across the railroad tracks, then north on the trail to the finish line. Another Google map.
