Registration

Exception: Schools with singles and/or doubles only are exempt from the USRowing organizational membership requirement. However, all individuals in exempt schools must be individual members of USRowing.
Effective January 1, 2004, USRowing set up less expensive categories for organizational membership. In addition to full membership for $500 per year, they now offer:
Coaches and Coxswains Meeting - A meeting for all coaches, coxswains, single scullers, and bowmen/women in doubles and quads will be held Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Lloyd Hall, #1 Boathouse Row. All crews will be responsible for the information delivered at the meeting.
The Course - All events will be 1500 meters. The course will be open for pre-regatta practice on Thursday, May 19.
Regatta Schedule - Final races will be held in the order listed below. There will be no exceptions.
Head style time trials for all events will be held on Friday. Semi finals will run on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning. Finals will run on Saturday afternoon.
Races will not be delayed for crews that are late to the start for any reason. Crews must start in the order assigned for time trials. For semi-finals and finals, crews must be in their lanes and locked onto the stake boat two minutes before the start of their race.
The regatta schedule will be posted after the entry deadline on May 5. We expect to have it by May 10. Our best guess of the regatta schedule is last year's schedule.
Entries - Entries must be entered on-line at Regatta Central by Thursday, May 5, 2005.
Team Roster - As part of the on-line entry procedures at Regatta Central, you will prepare a team roster. Team rosters must be signed by the Headmaster, Principal, or Athletic Director of the school and contain only the names of bona fide students who are in regular attendance at day classes and whose academic eligibility meets the regular requirements of their school. Rosters must include every individual listed on entry forms.
Waivers - Every competitor must complete a waiver and return it with the entry forms. No competitor will be allowed to race without a signed waiver on file. Coaches, note: Waivers must be signed by parents. Start early!
Substitutions - A crew other than a single scull may substitute up to one-half of its rowers, as well as the coxswain. Any substitutions MUST be announced at registration and MUST be accompanied by a team roster signed by the Headmaster, Principal, or Athletic Director of the school in accordance with the "Team Roster" rule above.
Entry Deadline - Entries are due no later than Thursday, May 5, 2005. After that date, entries will be accepted at the discretion of the Regatta Committee on a "lane available" basis and only with a $25.00 per boat late fee. Entry Fees
Scratch Fees - Entry fees will be refunded if the scratches are made before Friday, May 6, 2005. Those scratching after that time will forfeit their entry fees. Those scratching after Thursday, April 29, 2004, will forfeit their fees and be assessed a $25.00 scratch fee to be paid prior to competition by any other boat from that school in subsequent races.
Eligibility - Competitors may enter and compete in only one event. All competitors in a boat must represent the same high school. Eligibility is assigned to students in their freshman through senior years (9th through 12th grades). Each athlete has four consecutive years of eligibility beginning with entry into the freshman year (9th grade).
Age Requirements - Eligible competitors must not have attained the age of 19 years prior to September 1, 2004, except that each eight may contain two competitors and each four or quad may contain one competitor who must not have attained the age of 19 years, 6 months prior to September 1, 2004.
Juniors - Junior events are restricted to competitors in the junior year (11th grade) or lower. Juniors, including coxswains, must not have attained the age of 18 years prior to September 1, 2004. Senior (12th grade) students may not compete in Junior events.
Second Eight - A school must enter the senior eight in order to enter a second eight.
"B" Boats - No "B" boats are permitted. Only one entry per school per event is permitted.
Freshman Eight - All competitors in Boys Freshman Eight and Girls Freshman Eight, must be high school freshman, 9th graders. 8th graders are not permitted.
Time trials - Head style time trials will be held for all events. Here are the guidelines for time trials, including traffic patterns.

Lane placement will be determined by the time trial as follows:
Final only (12 boats or less):
Per the recommendations of the USRowing Sports Medicine Committee, athletes must be within two pounds of the required weight on the first try or they will not be allowed to weigh in again. If they are within two pounds they are allowed to return up to two additional times.
The Athlete's Village - All visiting crews will be parked at and launch from the Athlete's Village near the Three Angels, approximately 500 meters downstream from Columbia Bridge at the finish line. No visiting crews will be permitted to launch from the Canoe Club or the Robert M. Gillin Jr. Boathouse, the new home of St. Joseph's Prep.
Bow Markers - For the time trials races, bow numbers will be provided.
For conventional six lane semi-finals and finals, bow numbers will not be provided. Each school must provide its own bow number. Bow numbers one through six will be used, corresponding to assigned lane numbers. We will have sets of bow numbers on hand for purchase at registration and during the regatta. No shell may race without a bow number.
Bow numbers must be a minimum of 7" high and 5" wide and can be purchased at:
Uniforms - All crews must wear matching shirts. "Matching" means identical in style, color, and detail, including any insignia. No crew will be permitted to race in violation of this rule.
Bow-coxed Boats - Bow-coxed boats must adhere to USRowing rules governing the size of the opening, i.e., minimum 2.3 foot long longitudinally, minimum 1.64 foot long as wide as inner hull, inner surface smooth and free of obstacles.
Awards - All contestants will receive ribbons. Medals will be awarded to all first, second, and third place crews. Trophies and plaques will be given to the schools of all first place crews.
Unsportsmanlike Conduct - The crew of any competitor caught stealing or engaging in any unsportsmanlike conduct will, at the discretion of the Regatta Committee, be disqualified.
Tents - Anyone using a tent, awning, canopy, etc. that is more than 120 square feet is required to obtain a permit from the city's Licenses & Inspections Department at a cost of $75.00. Contact Wendell Bellamy (215-686-2535), Patricia Whaley (215-686-2534), or Aaron Cornelius (215-686-2392). We recommend the use of individual 10' by 10' canopies, which can be erected at no cost.
Team booster tents may erected in appropriate spectator areas at your own risk. Please use caution and consideration in setting up your tent. Be sure it is secured and do not leave it unattended. If you must leave your tent, please lower it so that it will not be uprooted in case of high winds. The Stotesbury Cup Regatta is not responsible for any loss of items, damage to property or personal injury as the result of a tent’s existence on the regatta site. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us to provide a safe and comfortable environment for our competitors and spectators.
Vendors - All manufacturers, clubs, and sellers of rowing-related equipment and goods are welcome to apply for vendor space. Interested vendors should contact Anne Miller by April 27.
Advertising - Advertising in the regatta program is encouraged. For more information, please contact Anne Miller. Please pass this along to your parents group. Many have asked in the past how they can take out an ad in the program.
