Boathouse Row will begin recycling.

Here is how it will work:

WHO: All facilities along Boathouse Row
WHAT: The following materials can now be recycled:
  • Plastic Containers: #1 and #2 plastics ONLY (mostly beverage and detergent type containers). Look for the number on the bottom of the container to see if it's acceptable.
  • Cardboard: Empty and flattened (like oar boxes).
  • Glass: Jars and bottles
  • Metal: Tin and aluminum cans, empty aerosol cans, empty paint cans
  • Paper: Newspaper, magazines, phone books, computer paper, flyers, junk mail, wrapping paper, shredded paper (no foil or plastic wrap), soda and beer cartons. NO FOOD-SOILED PAPER please!
WHERE: #1 - At the post on the grassy area in front of Lloyd Hall; and
#2 - By the boat ramp in the Canoe Club parking lot.
WHY: It is the right thing to do!
WHEN: Every Thursday, recyclable materials should be placed at pick-up locations by no later than 9:00 AM.
HOW:
  • In each of the houses, recyclables should be deposited into containers lined with clear plastic bags (of 8 to 10 mil thickness).
  • Containers should monitored for fullness and cleanliness of the areas maintained.
  • As necessary, receptacles should be relined, and full plastic bags taken to a designated holding area until collection day.
  • Cardboard (such as oar boxes) should be torn or folded down into a manageable size, can be stacked and stored into one larger box, and held in a designated holding area until collection day.
  • Crushed plastic bottles will save space.
  • Cardboard does not need to be bagged.
