- Men’s and women’s eights, fours, quads, doubles and singles, with separate divisions for open, masters, mixed, college, high school and recreational; dragon boats, and other paddlers (canoe or other craft).
- We encourage everyone to participate. Are you a recreational rower, and want to participate but not interested in competing? Enter the recreational category and you can enjoy a leisurely row down the race course without worrying about getting run over by racing crews.
- Fees are $25/person, so $25 for a single, $50 for a double, $100 for a quad, $125 for a four, and $225 for an eight. Dragon boats are $550 (22 people, $25/person) and paddlers are $25 for a one person boat and $50 for a two person boat.
- The Row for the Cure is a fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. We encourage everyone to solicit donations from their families and friends. Donations can be made on-line at our fundraising page.
- All entries thru Regatta Central.
- Entry deadline is Tuesday, October 5. Late entries accepted with $25/boat late fee until October 7.
- Our day will start with a Survivor’s Parade. It’s open to any and all breast cancer survivors. You can have a full boat of survivors or team up with others who want to support you. Rowers & dragon boats, canoes and kayaks welcome. The survivors parade will assemble just above the Girard Avenue bridges at 8:45 am and start at 9:00 am. It will be a 500 meter row and paddle down to the Viking statue. If you plan on participating in the survivor’s parade, please contact LeeAnn Shiveley so we know how many boats to expect. If you need more rowers to fill your boat, we can help. Contact LeeAnn and we’ll provide the rowers.

Rowers
Race distance is 2.75 miles for rowing crews. It is a conventional head race and follows the Navy Day Regatta race course.
All crews should row upriver on the east side to the start area.
Waivers are required for all participants. For most people, the easiest way is to execute the on-line waiver thru Regatta Central. If that is not possible, print and sign this waiver and bring it to registration before your boat launches.
Each team will need to check in at the registration tent to pick up their team packet, bow numbers and participants bags. The tents will be just north (upstream) of the Viking statue and will open at 7:30 am.
We encourage each athlete to pick up their own participant bag, so they have an opportunity to visit our tents and see all the educational resource available for breast cancer.
Dragon boats
Race distance is approximately 1.25 miles for dragon boats. Dragon boats will start at finish tower just above the Columbia railroad bridge. All boats finish near Viking statue.
Dragon boats can choose Flight 1 at 10:20 or Flight 2 at 11;40. It's your call. Coordinate with Jean Ettinger (Philadelphia Flying Phoenix) before Saturday, October 10.
Please enter your dragon boat thru Regatta Central. Entries there become the data base for our timing system.
Entry fees are $25/person, so $550 for a 22 person full dragon boat. With a full boat, it’s easiest for both you and us if you enter thru Regatta Central and pay in full by credit card. If you have fewer than 20 paddlers, when you make your entry on Regatta Central, indicate you will pay by check. Then pay Jean Ettinger (Philadelphia Flying Phoenix) before you race. Remember, this is a fundraiser.
Canoe & kayaks
Two options for canoes & kayaks:
- For a leisurely row, enter the recreational single or double thru Regatta Central.
- For a more competitive event, with the help of Glen Green, our last race of the day will be a mass start at the same starting line, about 500 meters downstream from the Rt. 1 bridges. You’ll race on the east side, just like the rowers, and finish near the Viking statue on Boathouse Row. The Navy Day Regatta map shows our race course.
- To enter the mass start canoe & kayak race, contact Glen Green. Entry fee is $25. Feel free to donate more to this fundraiser at our fundraising page.
- You must execute a waiver before you race. Glen has our waiver form. (Someone) will coordinate getting waivers and payments from Glen before the race starts.
