Rowing in the rain, Grand Valley State outpaced five other crews in the feature varsity eight, crossing the finish markers half of a boat length ahead of Drexel University.
Grand Valley State, ahead for most of the course, sped the 2,000 meters in 6 minutes, 17.9 seconds. Drexel finished in 6:19.27; Marist was third in 6:24.9; Lafayette finished fourth in 6:32.36; Washington College was fifth in 6:33.01, and La Salle placed sixth in 6:39.21.
Temple University prevailed in the women's varsity eight by 1_3/4 lengths in 7:01.9, leading most of the way.
